Buying a Christmas Tree

The date is December 6th. Russ and I put Gabriel to take a nap and told the boys we would be back soon. We wanted to get the Christmas Tree. A quick trip to Lowes and we'll be right back.

Negative.

We hit up Lowes and look thru all the skinny trees. Russ pulled a few out and banged the stump on the ground, in an attempt to get each tree to fluff out a bit. It wasn't working for me. I tried it a few times too, the trees are a lot heavier then I thought. After about 20 minutes of looking we decided that maybe we should support out local farmers and try the place up on Rosemont near the church.

Well, it was muddy and cold. We looked thru trees that ranged from $65 to $150. WhOa. I'm all for supporting our local farmers but isn't there supposed to be a better deal when you go local? Then to make matters worse ... Ken and Barbie showed up with their perfect three children in a nice black Escalade. Their kids started running around the lot and the dad was calling after them with a camera... "Suzie, smile for Daddy. Billy, smile for Daddy." He looked like a dork. I looked at Russ ... he could see the twitch in my eye and we immediately left the lot to go to Jack Frost on Holland Road.

Getting to this place is hard enough. You have to drive up Dam Neck, do a U-Turn and then right on Holland just to get here. Jeez ... We pull up and they come out to greet us, I guess they weren't that busy. The lady asks us what size and we tell her 6 - 7 feet. She points out a few and lets us know that she'll be inside if we need her. Again ... I wasn't feeling anything in this lot ... so we decided to just suck it up and get a fake one this year. Why not ...

BACK TO LOWES WE GO!!!!

When we pulled up we decided to look at the prices for the 7 - 8 feet trees one last time. WOW ... only $30. I look at Russ and we are off. It might as well have been two kids in a toy store. We're looking really hard at the different trees. We finally find one. It was beautiful and hidden behind all the skinny trees. (Even in Nature the big ones are never seen and the skinny bitches are all up front) We take it to the front and they only charged us $21 ... I shot Russ a hard stare so he would keep his BIG MOUGH SHUT! Cashiers fault not mine if she undercharges us. They even WRAP it up for you! We also got a fake wreath for the front door and a Holiday door mat.

ALL FOR THE PRICE OF A LOCAL Christmas Tree.

Next year ... we'll go to Lowes.

True Biker Chick

I stopped by Farm Fresh on the way home, today. Of course, I was on my bike.  I've gotten pretty used to weird looks. A girl walking around with a helmet and an Icon chest protector ... most of the time, they are looking for whatever guy I MUST BE riding with. Standing in line with my shampoo and hairspray, I heard a lady behind me say, "What do you ride?" Now, people who don't ride will say, "What kind of bike do you have?" ... I've learned that other riders will ask "What do you ride?" I was tired, on my way home from a late day at work and hungry. I didn't have time for a chit chat about bikes. Not today. I didn't turn around all the way. I said over my shoulder "A Yamaha YZF 600r." The lady said "Oh, thats nice dear." Part of me was annoyed at her tone. Another part of me felt disappointed in myself. I would hate if someone ignored my grandmother like that. I swallowed my pride and turned around. She was...

Day 5

Day 5 has to be about my favorite memory. THIS IS SOOOOO HARD! I have such a wonderful and fullfilled life that for me to pick one wouldn't be very fair. I wanna say that my favorite memory has to be the day that D was born. I love my baby ... he is amazing and he saved my life. I've done everything I could to make him have a wonderful life (including marrying a white guy! LOL) ... He is my wonderful baby ... he has such a beautiful smile and he is the silliest of my children... He and I have been thru so much together! Even thru it all he loves me and I love him.

Learning From Gabriel ...

I had rough morning with Gabriel. I let my 6yo get the better of me. I know he isn't a morning person, and neither am I. I went out of the routine this morning and let him watch cartoons BEFORE he was ready to go. (at the time it seemed like a good idea, don't judge). Time caught up to us and then it was a mad dash to get everything ready only to realize we were ahead of schedule. That just made me more upset ... that I was upset and I had no real reason to be. UGH. I left without hugging and kissing him goodbye. I made it to the highway before God told me I should call him and wish him a happy day. I called, apologized for fussing at him and I hoped he would have a great day. What he said next has been on my mind alllll morning. He said "We had a rough morning because you forgot to come into my room and pray with me last night. You have to remember to pray with me. When you pray with me, I have a good day the next day." I don't take Gabr...
